How to Improve Conversion Rate – Easily

How would you like to convert more visitors into leads and customers? In this article, I will show you how to improve conversion rate. There are many strategies for doing this it’s just a matter of knowing which ones work. Knowing these strategies can boost sales conversion rate.

We have seen time and time again that SEO is the best and most practical way to turn our visitors into customers.

Attracting Visitors

Before we obtain sales we need to attract visitors to our website. To do this we have to market our products and/or services to the public.

So how do we market our products and/or services?

The SEO strategy can be quite intimidating for the beginner but is the best way to obtain free organic traffic. The simplest way is to write unique content using SEO that will also answer any questions your visitors have on a given topic. This will sway the public into clicking on your website or blog to find out more information. There is no secret to SEO its just a matter of 3 simple techniques.

  • Find the most burning problems of your audience and execute them
  • Create a huge amount of useful content that answers the public’s questions
  • Reach out to influencers and tell them about your content to get links

You need to offer a product or service that consumers need that will help them solve a problem or question. What consumers want is value for money, so you need to provide that valuable product or service to satisfy their need. You have to share the benefits with your visitors to a certain product or service. Why will they be better off if they use such-and-such? Don’t just tell them about the features. Including the benefits will draw your visitors into prospective customers and sales.

To learn more about SEO here is a simple step by step guide by Neil Patel. Neil Patel is one of the great influencers online.

Headings or Titles

The first thing your potential visitors will see when they do a search is your heading/title and the meta description. This has to be outstanding enough for the public to want to click through to your website. It has to answer your target audiences problems and/or fears as well as questions without giving the content of your website away too much.

Think in terms of your own searches on the internet. How do you ask questions? Do you get the right answers? If not do you re-phrase the question?

To help you choose a great heading/title you need to use a keyword research tool and there are many different ones you can try. Your keyword or keyword phrase should always be in your title for optimum SEO.

Meta Description

Confused by what a meta description is?

A meta description is a snippet of up to about 155 characters a tag in HTML which summarizes a page’s content. Search engines show the meta description in search results mostly when the searched-for phrase is within the description, so optimizing the meta description is crucial for on-page SEO. Below id a screenshot of what a meta description looks like when you do a search.

For more examples of meta descriptions and a write up on them go to Yoast. If you run a WordPress site Yoast have a great plugin that will not only help with meta descriptions but help with SEO too.

Featured Snippets

What is a featured snippet?

Featured snippets in search. When a user asks a question in Google Search, they might show a search result in a special featured snippet block at the top of the search results page. This featured snippet block includes a summary of the answer, extracted from a webpage, plus a link to the page, the page title, and URL”.

This is by far the best way to get noticed by your audience it is better than getting your website ranking on the No.1 page in the No.1 spot. Its classed as the No.0. By 0 it means you will be above the No.1 spot but after the ads.

Use LSI phrases in your content

An LSI phrase is quite important for SEO. They are pseudonyms for your actual heading or title. The search engines just love these phrases.

Here is an LSI phrase generator you can use for free to get these phrases.

Keep Learning

Once you are hooked on internet marketing and have been doing it for a while you may think you know it all. On the contrary, you need to keep learning. Read and research whenever you have some spare time. This is especially a need for beginners.

As the saying goes “the more you learn the more you earn” So if you want to earn you must learn. You need to continually upgrade your skills as an internet marketer. The internet changes very quickly with new and more informative information every day so keep up to scratch with your learning.

Learn from the top guys, the ones that are and have made an influence online. Copy their strategy and you will get a head start in obtaining those leads and sales you need and want.

Once you learn a new outcome start implementing it as possible into your marketing strategy. One of the greatest learning facilities you will find online is a training program of fantastic integrity. Click on the image below.

Stop Chasing after Shiny Objects

The shiny object syndrome is a saying that is used online for those people that can’t stop looking for new opportunities to make money online. There is no magic in making money online. The process has to be worked at.

For example, if you had an offline business would you expect to make a million dollars on your first day of opening. The answer to that equation is quite clearly a NO.

Stop wasting your time and money. Think clearly and set your goals. The simple fact is simple. Identify the needs of the market and offer products that fulfill those needs.

The need for trust is a must, as the first impression people have of you and your brand is your content. Build a long-term relationship with your visitors and they will keep coming back to your website or blog. This will eventually turn your visitors into valuable customers.

The Proof is in the Conversions

I would like to show you a program called “Proof” which can lead to better conversion rates on your website for the products and services you sell. Social proof sells. According to Insights, over 70% of people look for product reviews before purchasing.

This is not a shiny object but a real website program that can grow your conversion rates and sales.

Proof Website conversion Strategy

Proof displays real-time visitor and customer activity notifications on your website. A pop-up will usually show in the bottom left-hand corner when a customer has either joined your program or has bought a product. Not only can you have the notification showing sales you can have it showing things like who has opted into your free trial.

This is the proof you need on your website to show that your products and services are actually being bought. This is a great strategy as it a way of letting your existing customers do the selling for you.

Start a 14-day free trial to see the effect it has on your conversion rates. Go to their website here to watch a demo of Proof in action.

Offer Incentives

Once you have your website or blog all set up you want to be offering an incentive to attract users to your website. This can be done on your website and also through sending out emails to your list.

Send out emails with a free incentive to say for instance join a particular program or to get them to comment on your articles. Whatever incentive you can think of, for example, a free ebook, guides, and courses.

There are places you can obtain such free material. One of the free places for ebooks, in particular, is free ebooks dot net. They have a multitude of free books on offer and is one of the better places to obtain them.

A great place for creating your own ebooks and guides is a program called Beacon. Go here to join.

Set a Deadline

A simple but effective deadline can spur visitors into making a purchase with a sense of urgency. They will have the mindset that they have to hurry up and purchase at a given price before the deadline ends. It gives an impression of immediacy “I must buy before the deadline”.

One way to do this is to use a countdown timer on your web page. This will show your visitors or email clients just how much time is left before the end of a campaign. Here is a couple you can use.

Safety First

Everyone wants to be safe online. This is not just a maybe but a must if you want your visitors to feel secure whilst on your website. This is especially necessary if you are in the e-commerce business or sell products on your own website.

The way to do this is to purchase an SSL certificate (Secure socket layer)

Why is this necessary? “Any computer in between you and the server can see your credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, and other sensitive information if it is not encrypted with an SSL certificate. When an SSL certificate is used, the information becomes unreadable to everyone except for the server you are sending the information to”

Your host server sometimes includes an SSL certificate in their package Check with your host server. If not it is a must idea to buy one.

The prices vary and can range from $69 – upwards on average depending on where you buy your certificate from. This price information was correct on the day of writing this article. You may find less expensive options but personally, I would buy from a reputable company.

  1. Thanks for your feedback Kevin.

Having a high bounce rate just means that your visitors are not doing anything else than looking at your homepage. They are not navigating to your other pages or clicking on a link. This does not mean they are not reading your article.

The best piece of advise I can give you about meta descriptions is to install a plug-in named Yoast.

Its a fantastic plug-in for SEO and meta descriptions.

I would always use your own meta description this way Google can choose which description to use. You can do this with yoast.

This is the link to download Yoast Plug-in.

    I hope this helps

  2. Hi Cris,

Glad you liked my post and thanks so much for the feedback.

The infographic of title templates is real handy to use if you are stuck for a great headline. I use them myself.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I have more title templates if you are interested as I said just contact me any time.

  3. Thanks Sondra,

I am so glad I could be of some help to you.

If you can obtain an 0 ranking in the search engines it is better than being in a No.1 position as this will be classed as a featured snippet.

The 74 titles are a help when you are stuck for a title to write about. I always make sure to check them out in Jaaxy first and maybe tweak them a little to be able to put your keyword or keyword phrase in or around the title somehow.

Thanks for a great comment and please feel free to contact me as I have another list of titles you can use.

  4. Janet, thanks for sharing such a comprehensive list of ways to improve conversion rates.   As your leading picture stated, “The road to success is traffic.”  I think your list of 74 clever blog post titles might be so useful that I bookmarked this page on your website.  Thanks.

I need to seriously consider what you said about the featured snippets.   That is an area in which I have significant room for improvement.   I had never heard of the concept of “O ranking.”   You must have read my mind, when the next section was called “Keep Learning”   Well, I am trying and site like yours helps.  Thanks!

  5. I have been researching SEO and traffic building for some time now, and have had a difficult time understanding some of the content. This post explains things in a very simple way. I definitely picked up a few things here.

I love the graphic you included with the blog post title templates. This will be SO useful to reference for future content writing. Thank you so much!

  6. Definitely need to implement some of these tips into my website, most specifically the meta descriptions. Currently I have a very high bounce rate on my blog.

One of the things that I’m wondering about, does writing a proper meta description convert better than just leaving whatever is in the first paragraph of your post as the meta description? That’s what I’ve been doing for all my posts. My keywords are in the first paragraph though.
